The increase came mainly from North America, while the Asia\/Pacific region recorded declines.<\/p>\n<p>The most active investors by number of transactions were Verde Bio Holdings Inc (USA) with 14 transactions of mineral and royalty interests and Sonnedix Power Holdings Limited (UK) with 13 purchases of solar power generation assets.\u00a0 The top ten account for just 3% of transactions; all companies on this list are based in North America or Europe. With the exception of Boralex US Solar COA LLC, none of the companies listed last year appear here.<\/p>\n<p>Worldwide, most deals took place in the Independent Power and Renewable Electricity Producers segment, and these mainly in Europe. The Oil, Gas and Consumable Fuels category was close behind.<\/p>\n<h2>Stable conditions in Europe<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31639 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-2-ENG-1024x629.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"629\" srcset=\"https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-2-ENG-1024x629.png 1024w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-2-ENG-800x491.png 800w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-2-ENG-768x472.png 768w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-2-ENG-1536x943.png 1536w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-2-ENG-2048x1257.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The UK again tops the list of transactions in Europe in 2021, followed by Spain. Together, these two countries account for just under 30% of the nearly 800 deals, sorted by the location of the target company. As in the previous year, purchases of generation companies dominate. 81% of the buyers come from the region (Europe).<\/p>\n<h2>Almost every second transaction involves (green) power generation<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31643 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-3-ENG-1024x626.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"626\" srcset=\"https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-3-ENG-1024x626.png 1024w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-3-ENG-800x489.png 800w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-3-ENG-768x469.png 768w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-3-ENG-1536x939.png 1536w, https:\/\/working.capitalmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Picture-3-ENG-2048x1251.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In Germany, too, many of the transactions involved renewable energy installations. A slight decrease of around 6 percentage points was recorded compared with 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, there were also transactions by well-known market participants such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Repurchase of Stromnetz Berlin GmbH by the Berlin Senate from Vattenfall.<\/li>\n<li>Acquisition of STEAG Power Minerals GmbH (SPM) by EP Power Europe, a company of the Czech EPH Group. SPM is a supplier of power plant by-products (including FGD gypsum) and waste management services.<\/li>\n<li>Sale of Next Kraftwerke GmbH, operator of one of Europe&#8217;s largest virtual power plants, to Shell.<\/li>\n<li>Acquisition of 51% of the shares in Thermondo, a heating installation company operating throughout Germany, by the Canadian infrastructure fund Brookfield Infrastructure Partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Martin Hallinger, Senior Advisor, Investec<\/strong>: <em>&#8220;As part of the necessary transformation toward a climate-friendly energy economy, most transactions involve (renewable) generation assets.
